Who We Are

Butler, Lanz & Wagler, L.C. is a Registered Investment Advisor located in Overland Park, KS and is registered with the Securities Commissioners of both the states of Missouri and Kansas. The firm has three principal partners: Christopher M. Butler, Timothy E. Lanz, and Lucas B. Wagler, each owning 29% of the firm. The remaining 13% is divided among two silent partners, each owning less than 10%. The two silent partners have no day-to-day duties of the firm and are not at all active in the management of investments.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide investment management services for the discerning risk-conscious investor. We seek to maximize risk-adjusted returns by utilizing strategies not typically offered by the mainstream financial services industry.

How We Accomplish Our Mission

The firm utilizes mechanical long-short-cash systems for timing the entry and exit of positions in disparately correlated asset classes such as stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies and emerging markets. We incorporate the business cycle to determine where risk is and to tell us how much to risk in any given investment. This creates a dynamic portfolio that changes as the environment changes.
